Ashanti NDC Regional Organiser resigns

Kumasi, Aug 23, GNA – Mr Akwasi Abayie, Ashanti Regional Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has resigned from his position and renounced his membership of the Party.

These were contained in a letter addressed to the Regional Chairman last Friday, copied to the General Secretary, the National Secretariat of the NDC and the press.

Mr Abayie, who did not assign any reasons for his decision, said: “I wish to inform you that I have resigned from my position as Regional Organiser and also as a member of the Party from today, August 20, 2004.”

Meanwhile, the NDC Regional Chairman, Mr Kwame Nti-Fordjour, told the GNA that he had received a copy of the resignation letter. Mr Nti-Forjour said he had referred the matter to the Regional Executive Committee and that he was hopeful that they would be able to sort things out with Mr Abayie.

Mr Nti-Fordjour said the Regional Organiser had informed him about his decision to resign from his position but he advised him against that and was, therefore, surprised at the decision.
