The Ashanti Regional Executives of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) say their support and loyalty to President John Dramani Mahama is total, unwavering and rock solid.
They will continue to work with commitment and passion, and to make sacrifices to return him and the party he leads to power in 2016.
This is contained in a press statement issued and signed by the Regional Chairman, Mr Yaw Owusu Obimpeh, in reaction to media reports that they were plotting to make the President unpopular by sponsoring other candidates to contest him for the party’s flag-bearer position.
They dismissed the claim as untrue, tasteless and a fantasy, which should be not only be ignored, but treated with utmost contempt.
“We simply do not know where all this is coming from and what the motivation is.”
The statement said the regional party officers said they felt scandalized by the allegation and that they deeply suspected political mischief.
They therefore appealed to the Presidency to cause an investigation to get to the bottom of it, to unmask any individual or group pushing the evil agenda to cause unnecessary confusion.
