Ashanti is now calm – Boafo

Accra, Jan 24, GNA – Mr Samson Kwaku Boafo, Ashanti Regional Minister designate, on Monday said the days when the region was boisterous are gone.

“Ashanti is now very calm, gangsterism is very minimal and robbery is down as security agencies are up to the task.”

The Minister designate, who is also the Member of Parliament for Subin, appeared before the Appointments Committee of Parliament. He said Ashanti Region was regaining its vitality, adding that Kumasi, its capital city would have to be helped in order to stand the magnetism of Accra.

On his relationship with the former Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, Mr Kofi Juma, he said, “we are not in any conflict at all, we are mature people and there is nothing between us.”

He denied allegations of corruption pertaining to the sale of the former GIHOC Shoe Factory.

“I handle nothing. Everything was done by the Divestiture Implementation Committee.”
