Ashanti CLOSAG demands salary adjustment

Kumasi, July 5, GNA – The Ashanti Region branch of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOSAG) is demanding that the national leadership opens negotiations with the government on the Ghana Universal Salary Structure (GUSS) for upward adjustment of salaries of members.

This, they said, had become necessary to cushion them against the prevailing economic hardships.

A resolution adopted at their mid-year workers’ durbar in Kumasi and signed by the Regional Chairperson, Mrs Mercy Boakyewaa Acheampong, warned that if they did see any increase in their salaries by the close of the month, the 93Region shall advice itself.”

It said they could not be blamed for any 93unexpected eventualities.”

The resolution said the workers in arriving at the decision took into account the delay in migrating them onto the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) and the rise in the cost of goods and services.

Added to this is the fact that some public servants had already seen their salaries go up based on the SSSS.
