Ashaiman to get one of 200 community day schools

Professor Jane Nana Opoku Agyemang, Minister of Education, has inspected a 12-acre land earmarked for the construction of a Senior High School (SHS) at Community 22 in the Ashaiman Municipality.

According to the Minister, the project which is one of the 200 model Senior High Schools promised by President John Mahama during the 2012 electioneering campaign period, is estimated to cost GHC 11 million and expected to take off in March.

Prof Agyemang said the initiative to construct the school in the area is to make education accessible, after considering the population of the Municipality. She said her outfit is on a verification mission to ensure that what is on the ground is the true reflection of what is on paper.

Mr. Isaac Lamptey, Municipal Works Engineer, said looking at the fast rate at which the Ministry wants to execute the project, the site plan for the construction of the school will be ready in two weeks.
