Tema, Dec. 6, GNA– Opinion leaders and residents of Ashaiman have expressed their appreciation to President John Agyekum Kufuor for elevating Ashaiman to a municipality.
They assured the President and government of their co-operation and support for the creation of the Ashaiman Municipality to enhance good governance for sustainable development.
The appreciation was contained in a letter signed by Mr Tony Afenyo, Secretary to the Concerned Citizens and Opinion Leaders Association of Ashaiman, and copied to the Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Environment and released to the Ghana New Agency (GNA) in Tema on Thursday.
The association, however, appealed to the Electoral Commission to consider the large population of Ashaiman and create another constituency out of Ashaiaman.
Recently President Kufuor created new districts, municipalities and metropolitan assemblies.
The opinion leaders and residents of Ashaiman agitated through various means after the announcement of the creation of the Ashaiman-Adenta Municipality with Adenta designated as the capital. 06 Dec. 07
