Ashaiman NPP expels member

Ashaiman, Nov. 16, GNA – The Ashaiman Constituency Branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expelled Mr Kwame Amable, who is contesting Election 2004 as an Independent Parliamentary Candidate, from the Party.

His Campaign Manager, Mr Augustine Inkoom has also been expelled from the Party, a statement signed by the Constituency Secretary Mr Joseph Ofosu Siaw said on Tuesday.

The statement explained that the expulsion of the two became necessary after the Executives and other personalities in the Party exhausted all efforts to have Mr Amable to rescind his decision to contest the election as an independent candidate.

“We find this conduct as a deliberate attempt to frustrate the Party without any provocation”, the statement said.

It said the Constituency opened nominations for interested Party members to file and contest the primaries and even advertised it, but Mr Amable, “for reasons known to him”, did not file his nomination to go through the primaries.

Plans were also underway to expel him from the Tema Municipal Assembly, where he is a Government appointee, the statement said and warned that any NPP member, who would be seen campaigning for Mr Amable would also be expelled.
