Ashaiman NPP elects Medical Practitioner as its chairman

Ashaiman, Oct 29, GNA — The Ashaiman constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has elected a medical practitioner, Dr Alex Ampofo Donkor, as its chairman.

He won 55 votes to beat the incumbent, Alhaji Hamid Hussein Papaye and Mr Richard Amaka Ahwireng who had 29 and 16 votes respectively. Others were Mr Albert Boakye Okyere, the Secretary, Mr William K. Kyeremanteng, the Assistant Secretary, and Nana Antwi Gyenin, the Organiser.

Madam Amina Gaddo was elected Women’s Organiser and Baba Alhassan, the Treasurer.

Alhaji Usuf Ahamad, NNP Regional Youth Organiser, said the election was an indication of unity and called on all members to strive to retain the seat in the next presidential and parliamentary elections. Dr Donkor thanked the delegates for electing him and appealed to party members to bury their differences and unite to build a formidable party.
