The Asere Traditional Council on Friday held a press conference to unify its people after years of division and misunderstanding among the family members in Accra.
Asere consists of 52 township and villages in the Greater Accra Region and it is also the leading clan of the Ga’s.
Mr Amarkai Amarteifio, Elder and Councillor of Asere Traditional Council addressed the gathering and said after years of feuding, the people of Asere had decided to give peace a chance.
He said they had started a process of reconciliation which would culminate in the installation of a substantive Asere Mantse.
“A committee will be set up to review the constitution of Asere, recommend the obligation to modern governance and delegation. Another committee will be set up to review all suits pending in the law courts with a review to amicable settlement of all issues of dispute.” He said.
Nii Amarteifio said he was hopeful that with all the unity efforts, all other controversial issues would be solved and the state would be ushered into a new era of peace and progress.
Nii Nat Nunoo Amarteifio, Principal Elder of Asere Traditional Council said the time had changed and it was not necessary for the family members to fight among themselves, but they should rather allow peace to stand.
He noted that the Council was planning to bring development in Asere families and therefore urged members to stop the feuding and come together to help develop their communities.
The Chiefs and traditional leaders of Asere Traditional Council slaughtered a sheep and poured libation at the ceremony as a sign of maintaining peace among themselves.
