Kumasi, Sept. 23, GNA- Nana Yaw Owusu, a member of the Tafo Royal Family, has appealed to the Asantehene to intervene in a protracted dispute among a section of the family that had prevented the burial of some of its members at the Royal cemetery for some time now. In a briefing with Newsmen in Kumasi, he said the dispute arose four years ago when one Sarkodie, also a royal, swore the great oath of Asanteman against the Late Madam Yaa Nsiah and her Kinsmen to effect that, their lineage did not belong to the Tafo Royal Family and as such their bodies could not be interned at the Royal cemetery upon their death.
Nana Owusu said as a result, the bodies of Madam Nsiah together with that of five of her kinsmen who died in the last four years were still being kept at the morgue, pending the resolution of the dispute. He expressed worry that the Tafohene, Nana Agyin Frimpong, who initially promised to mediate in the issue, had failed to do so in all these years.
“We are therefore appealing to the Asantehene for his timely intervention in the case to help pave way for the burial of the six people at the Royal cemetery to foster peace, since they also belong to the Tafo Royal Family,” he said.
