Asantehene to visit Morocco

The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will leave Ghana for a visit to Morocco at the invitation of King Mohammed VI, King of Morocco.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu would be the Special Guest of Honour at the Morocco National Day celebration on Sunday July 30 2006, which also marks the seventh anniversary of King Mohammed’s ascending the throne.

Other invited guests are Princes from Saudi Arabia; Yemen; Qatar and The Emirates.

Media Relation Manager at the Manhyia Palace,G. B. Osei Antwi, said that King Mohammed had sent down a plane to convey Otumfuo Osei Tutu and his retinue of 32, including Chiefs from Asanteman Council and Hornblowers.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu would be met on arrival at the Rabat Airport by Prince Moulay Rachid, Brother of King Mohammed, and Ghana’s Ambassador to Morocco, Mr Kobena Annan.

The Asantehene would pay a courtesy call on King Mohammed on Friday July 28 and travel to Fez, about 300 kilometres away from Rabat.

He would also visit Marrakech and Casablanca and meet the Ghanaian Community in Morocco.
