Asantehene To Visit Germany

THE ASANTEHENE, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is expected to emplane to the Federal Republic of Germany to participate in the Third Africa Forum for Heads of State from November 2-4, 2007.

The forum would be held at the Kloster Eberbach Monastery Conference Centre near Wiesbaden in the State of Hesse, Germany.

Under the theme “The Challenges of Change – Africa and German Responses”, the forum would explore the issue of how people in Africa and Germany tackle the challenges of globalisation.

A release authored by Mr. G.B. Osei Antwi, Media Relations Manager at the Manhyia palace in Kumasi, and issued to the press on September 27, 2007, said Otumfuo had accepted an invitation from His Excellency Horst Kohler, President of the Federal Republic of Germany to participate in the forum.

It said His Excellency Dr. Marins Haas, German Ambassador to Ghana personally presented the invitation at the Manhyia palace recently.

The release gave the working title for the forum as; “Pushing Forward into the 21st Century/The World in a State of Flux:-Answers from Africa and Germany.”

It would be recalled that President Kohler visited the Manhyia Palace on January 12, this year, during which a durbar of chiefs and people of the Asante Kingdom was held in his honour.

H.E. Dr. Haas, according to the release, expressed appreciation for the cordial relationship that existed between Manhyia Palace and the Federal Republic of Germany.
