Asante-Mampong MCE to contest NDC parliamentary primary

Asante/Mampong, (Ash), Sept 1, GNA – The Asante-Mampong Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Daniel Apau Ohyeamang, has joined the contest for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary election primary in the area.

Three other people had already picked nomination forms.

He said he was confident of winning the parliamentary seat for the party, when given the nod by the delegates.

Mr Ohyeamang, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Thursday, gave high marks to the ruling NDC government for what he said was its unprecedented development achievements.

He said within the relatively short period of less than three years, it had completed many development projects that had brought tremendous improvement to the lives of the people.

The municipality has had its fair share of development under the Mills Administration, he said, citing the rehabilitation of the Asante-Mampong town roads, construction of classroom blocks, refurbishment of the Kofiase and Asaam Health Centres and accommodation for health personnel of the two facilities.

Besides, some feeder roads including Bosomkyekye-Bunso, Nkwanta-Brengo, Adidwan-Atonsuagya and Dadiese-Benim had been put into good shape.

Added to these, is the award of scholarships to a total 115 students in tertiary and Senior High Schools (SHS).

Mr Ohyeamang encouraged all qualified voters to ensure that they register when the Electoral Commission (EC) begins the voter registration exercise.
