Asante Akim North NDC elects executives

Konongo (Ash), Dec.11, GNA- Alhaji Mohammed Seidu, was on Tuesday retained as chairman of Asante Akim North branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the party’s constituency election held at Konongo. Alhaji Seidu polled 185 votes to beat his closest challenger, Mr. Yaw Kwakye who polled 107 votes with Mr. Boadi Bontey securing seven votes. Mr. Paul Averu and Alhaji Braimah Boyong, also maintained their positions as vice chairman and secretary respectively despite fierce challenge from other contestants.

Other elected executives were Mr. Peter Agboji, Deputy Secretary, Mr. Oti Akenten, Treasurer, Mr. Isaac Kyei Andoh, Organiser, Mr. Abdul-Moumin Yahya, Propaganda Secretary, Mr. Adamu Sumaila, Youth Organiser, Mr. Abiba Iddrisu, Women Organiser and Ms. Joyce Bator, Deputy Women Organiser. The election which was supervised by Mr. Kinsley Larbi, the Municipal Electoral Officer was generally peaceful as victorious and defeated candidates congratulated each other.

Alhaji Sani Junior, Regional Deputy Youth Organiser, commended the delegates for their sense of maturity and urged them to support the executives to enable them execute their mandate effectively. He observed that the results of the election confirmed the competence and popularity of the executives who could have been returned unopposed but for the party’s belief in democracy.

Mr. Thomas Osei-Bonsu, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), asked the party members start preparation towards election 2012 and charged the executives to live up to expectation.

He called for unity among the rank and file of the party, stressing that internal wrangling could be detrimental to the party’s chances in 2012. 11 Dec.09
