Asante-Akim MP loses parliamentary primaries

Bompata (Ash) July 29, GNA – Mr Alex Kwaku Korankye, Member of Parliament, for Asante- Akim South, lost the Constituency parliamentary primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), at Bompata, to Mrs Gifty Ohene-Konadu, a Finance Officer.

Mrs Ohene-Konadu beat Mr Korankye to the third position with 73 to 12 votes in a contest that comprised two other women, Mrs Margaret Afrakomah Campbell, a Lawyer, who polled 31 votes, and Mrs Anna Darcing Owusu-Antwi, four votes.

Mr Albert Kan-Dapaah, Minister of Communications asked the party constituency executives to support Mrs Ohene-Konadu to win the parliamentary elections.

Mr Francis Fredua Anto, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, also stressed the need for hard work to ensure the electoral victory of the ruling party.

Mrs Ohene-Konadu pledged to raise the image of women in the constituency.
