Asankrangwa hospital appeals for support.

Asankrangwa (W/R), Sept 11, GNA – Dr Osei Kofi, the Senior Medical Officer in charge of the Asankrangwa Hospital, has appealed to district assemblies to help improve health service delivery by providing some of the structures including machinery to health facilities. He said part of the common and HIPC funds could be used to provide some basic equipment and infrastructure at the hospitals.

Dr Osei Kofi said the hospital, which serves people from more than 200 communities including those in the Aowin-Suaman District, lacked modern equipment to enhance its service delivery.

He was briefing the GNA on conditions at the hospital in the wake of the strike embarked on by doctors last week. The doctor was on duty throughout the period even though he supported the strike action.

”The Out Patients’ Department and the Male Ward, build more than 45 years ago, need urgent renovation and expansion.” Dr Osei Kofi said the hospital lacked some basic equipment like a scan to enhance its work and appealed to the Ministry of Health, the district assembly and other institutions to assist the hospital.
