Asankrangwa appeals for improved telephone services

Asankrangwa (W/R), April 28, GNA- The absence of reliable telephone communication system at Asankrangwa, the district capital of the Wassa Amenfi West, continues to be a source of concern to many people. Only one out of the five phone booths installed by Ghana Telecom (GT) in the town about four years ago is still functioning.

Mr Acheampong Obiri-Yeboah, a civil servant, told the Ghana News Agency at Asankrangwa on Wednesday that several appeals to GT to repair the booths and install additional ones had fallen on deaf years. “We are completely cut-off from the outside world as far as telephone communication is concerned,” he said.

Mr Obiri-Yeboah said for almost one year now, GT officials keep on telling the people that technicians from Takoradi would repair the booths but the situation had remained the same. Ms Agatha Konadu, a trader, said many residents had applied fixed phones two years ago and even paid some moneys ”but nothing has happened.”
