Asamoah Gyan sues Akua Donkor, Montie FM’s Mugabe

Ghana’s captain Asamoah Gyan has sued controversial talk show host Salifu Maase, popularly known as ‘Mugabe’ of Montie FM, and the founder of Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Akua Donkor.

The striker has sued the duo over allegations that he is a bankroller of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Gyan has denied the allegations publicly and is resorting to the court for “general damages for libel contained in the defendants’ publications.”

He is also demanding in his Statement of Claim: “Exemplary and/or aggravated damages for libel contained in the defendants’ publications…”

The Shanghai SIPG forward is praying the High Court to place a “perpetual injunction restraining the defendants, whether by themselves, servants, agents or assigns from repeating similar or other libelous words against the plaintiff as well as costs, including lawyers’ fees.”

Gyan’s lawyer Kissi Agyebeng of Cromwell Gray LLP has confirmed the writ.
