Asamoah-Boateng urges NPP supporters to respect electoral laws

Saltpond, Oct 22, GNA – Mr Stephen Asamoah-Boateng, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, has urged members and supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to be conversant with the electoral laws in order to operate within them.

Mr Asamoah-Boateng, the Member of Parliament for Mfantseman West, said the NPP was a disciplined party that would not condone wrongdoings and appealed to supporters to conduct their activities within the confines of the law. He said this at a rally at Saltpond Zongo in the Mfantseman Municipality.

The MP, who is seeking re-election, called on supporters of the party to rally behind him to make the constituency a stronghold of the NPP to the extent that the party would not find it difficult to retain the seat when he leaves the political scene. He appealed to other contestants in the constituency primary to put the past behind them and support him to win the seat and urged them to emulate the example set by those who contested the presidential primary. Mr Asamoah-Boateng cautioned members and supporters of the party against complacency and urged them to work hard to the day of the poll. Miss Esi Dankwah, Constituency Women’s Organiser, said members and supporters alone could not win the election and appealed to them to reach out to the floating voters.

Mr Dennis Ehuren, Constituency Chairman, commended Mr Asamoah-Boateng for performing creditably and urged the electorate to give him another chance to represent them in Parliament. Mr Robert Quainoo-Arthur, Municipal Chief Executive, appealed to NPP supporters to act as “campaign managers” for the party to enable them to defuse vile propaganda of the National Democratic Congress and the Convention Peoples Party. Alhaji Muhammed Gibrine, Central Regional Organiser, donated bicycles to two hard working supporters at the Zongo. 22 Oct 08
