Asabidie Community-based Farmers Association inaugurated

Asabidie (E/R), Dec. 4, GNA – The Asabidie Community-based Farmers Association in the Birim North District, being supported by the Literacy Drive and Development Movement (LDDM), a non-governmental organization (NGO), was inaugurated at Asabidie on Friday, with a call on members not to use the association for partisan politics.

The occasion coinsided with the adoption of ten orphans who would be sponsored to attend school up to the tertiary level.

The National Director of the LDDM, the Reverend Fred Simon Yevugah, who inaugurated the Association, assured members that they would receive financial assistance under the NGO micro-finance scheme to facilitate their farming and trading activities.

He warned, “LDDM will not spare any executive member who will embezzles or misappropriates funds of the association”. Rev Yevugah said plans for the renovation of the primary and JSS classroom blocks by the Association had reached an advanced stage. The District Director of Education, Mr George F. Y. Diko, advised members of the Association to make good use of loans and credit facilities given to them and to repay on time to enable others to also benefit from the scheme.

He also asked them send their children to school instead of engaging them in economic activities.

Mr E. G. K. Badzie, a retired agriculturalist appealed to the district assembly, as a matter of urgency, to rehabilitate the Asabedie- Edubiase road to enhance economic activities in the area. 4 Dec 04
