Arthur Kennedy : Christmas And New Year Greetings

By the grace of God, another year is coming to a close. In the last year, there have been developments, both good and bad in our nation. On the positive side, the Black Stars, the National Soccer team, made us proud by not only qualifying for the world cup but acquitting themselves well. Furthermore, our economy continued to improve.

On the negative side, we continue to worship wealth regardless of how it is acquired and to tolerate at all levels disregard for our laws and institutions inconsistent with the the requirements of a virtuos society. As we move forward, let us acknowledge that a nation’s strength is not only measured in its material wealth but a lso by its spiritual wealth and values.

The same applies to individuals. Therefore, as we celebrate the birth of the Lord who died to atone for our sins, let us strive for the virtues of love, sacrifice and gratitude. Let us show our love for our family and friends by striving to be each our brother’s keeper.

Let us manifest the spirit of sacrifice by doing more for others and asking less for ourselves in the knowledge that as the Lord says “Whatever you do for the least of my brothers, that you do unto me”. Let us be grateful to our Lord for the many blessings of our lives and to our families and friends for all the kindnesses they have shown us.

Let us work and pray for a more virtuous nation where we care more about one another and put the common interest above our narrow interests.

Finally, may the New Year bring more Peace not just to our nation but to the world and Goodwill, not just amongst Ghanaians but all of mankind. Afrihyia Pa!!
