Arrested bank swindler manhandled

A confidence trickster, who goes from bank to bank swindling customers, has been captured on video being manhandled.

It is not clear if he is the same swindler who was recently arrested by police at Ashaiman after duping a student of GHS5,000 at a Barclays Bank branch in Osu, Accra.

In the video, the swindler is seen being slapped, shoveled aground, hit on the head, his tie pulled by a police officer while his head was being rotated by a security personnel who tried getting him to stay still for a shot, amidst verbal and physical abuse by a woman and some other people in an office enclosure, as others took videos of him with their mobile phones.

It is recalled that the Barclays Bank trickster, who apparently had swindled other customers at the same bank for four times, was captured by the bank’s CCTV duping the young man. The incident occurred on March 14, as the student of GES Model School at Osu, attempted making a deposit on behalf of his mother.

The trickster, according to the victim’s brother posed as a bank staff and offered to help him facilitate the deposit. “The man told him he is an old student of the school and that got him excited. He told the guy that he will help him go through the process. He actually pointed him to one of the sofas and directed him to sit there,” he narrated to Citi FM at the time.

The trickster then bolted with the money. The boy’s mother later sued the bank. Months later, the trickster was arrested at Ashaiman and handed over to the Osu Police station.
