Army worms invade farms in parts of Brong-Ahafo Region

Offuman (B/A), Oct 9, GNA – Army worms have invaded more than five hectares of maize farms in some communities in Techiman Municipality and a mass spraying exercise is underway.

The communities are Offuman, Aworowa, Nsuta, Nkwaeso and Tanoso where large maize farms were destroyed by the worms in the past. Mr. Labib Jibreel Kesse, Techiman Municipal NADMO co-ordinator, told the Ghana News Agency that officials of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and his outfit had stepped up the mass spraying exercise. He appealed to the farmers to report to the zonal co-ordinators whenever they sight the worms and appealed to the regional secretariat of NADMO to assist with adequate resources to control the worms.
