Army worms destroy 567.7 hectares of farm in Birim Central

A total of 567.7 hectares of farms in the Birim Central Municipality had been ravaged by fall army worms.

Mr. John Annorkwah Kontoh, the Municipal Crops Officer, said in all, 585 farmers had had their crops attacked.

To help deal with the invasive migratory pest, spraying gangs had been formed by the Municipal Directorate of the Food and Agriculture

Ministry to spray the affected farms.

He appealed to the people report any new farm invasion by the worms for prompt response.

Mr. Kontoh advised farmers to spray their farms with the recommended insecticides and in the right doses to achieve perfect results.

He added that farms should also be sprayed either early in the morning or late in the evening when the fall army worms were active
