Armed robbers terrorise Dawhenya residents

Residents of Eagle Nest Estate Area at Dawhenya in the Ningo-Prampram District are living in fear due to the frequent armed robbery in the area.

According to residents, over the past two weeks, armed robbers have attacked and robbed about four houses in the area.

Mr Emmanuel Paddy, a resident, said for instance, on the dawn of Friday, October 24, 2014, robbers attacked a house and locked the family in the bathroom while robbing them of their property.

Mr Paddy indicated that the robbers managed to enter and rob the house in spite of security measures such as razor wires and alarm systems installed at the house.

He added that on Sunday, October 26, at about 2130 hours, some armed robbers also scaled a wall to another house in an attempt to rob amidst gun shots.

According to an occupant of the house, she was in the opposite house making a call when she spotted the robbers scaling the wall, and called the Police who responded promptly but the robbers bolted.

She indicated that the robbers might have sprayed some substance on the dogs, who were barking, when the robbers entered the house but after the incident, the dogs could not bark again.

Residents told the GNA that they were now living in fear as they do not know when the robbers would strike again.

They have appealed to the Tema Regional Police Command and the Prampram District Police, to as a matter of urgency; introduce patrol services in the area to give residents the needed security.
