Armed robbers shoot Ho Police officer

A Police officer was shot and severely injured by suspected armed robbers Wednesday during a robbery attack on the Allied Oil filling station in Ho in the Volta region.

The incident according to Starr News Lambert Atsivor, has heightened fear and anxiety among residents of the area.

Violent crimes and robbery has been on the ascendancy in the Ho municipality in recent times.

Chiefs and people of the area have called on the IGP and other heads of security agencies to scale up security in the area.

A resident who spoke to Starr News said they are gradually losing confidence in the ability of the Police to protect them from criminals.

“It’s so scary to live in Ho municipality this days, just few days ago, there were about five robberies that happened, even the worst case is that; when they steal these things, they don’t leave you alone, they inflict cutlass wounds on you,” he lamented.

Meanwhile, the deputy Volta regional Police Commander ACP William Akpesey has said security has already been beefed up in the municipality.

He said the Command will intensify night patrols to curb the menace but will require information and collaboration from the public.
