Armed robbers rob company of 30 million cedis

Kuntanase (Ash), Jan 23, GNA- Two armed robbers early Thursday morning broke into the private residence of Mr Clifford Boateng popularly called ‘Ziloo Boat’, a businessman and bolted with 30 million cedis.

Madam Yaa Frema, wife of Mr Boateng, who narrated the incident to the Ghana News Agency at Kuntanase, said at about 002hrs on Thursday, while sleeping, she heard an unusual noise around the house and the dogs also barking furiously.

She said when she got out of bed, she saw two masked men wielding guns and knives who have destroyed their burglar proof window and crashed the door with a concrete block to force it open. Madam Frema said on entering the room, the robbers asked her to lie on the floor or be shot dead which she obliged.

She said they then ransacked the house after taking 15 million cedis cash, 15 million cedis worth of jewellery, 20 full pieces of cloth, 10 men’s wrist watches belonging to her husband who had travelled abroad and five ladies wrist watches.

Other items they took included a handbag, a Nokia mobile phone, a CD player and other items.

Madam Frema said after ransacking the rooms, the robbers attempted raping her but the screams of her two year-old-child scared them off. The Kuntanase police who confirmed the story said investigations were being conducted into the robbery.

Meanwhile, the police have appealed to the public for information that would lead to the arrest of the robbers.
