Armed robbers attack midwifery students at Asante-Mampong

Mampong (Ash), Jan. 26, GNA – A gang of armed robbers on Thursday night attacked a female hostel of the Asante-Mampong Midwifery and Health Assistants Training School, brutalized and robbed the students of unspecified amount of money and other valuables.

Four of the students, who received severe beatings for resisting the robbers’ demands, are con admission at the Mampong Government Hospital.

Some of the victims were reported to have also been raped.

The robbers seized from the students laptop computers, cellular phones, clothes, jewelry, and other items.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Abdulai Iddrisu, the Asante-Mampong Municipal Commander, confirmed the incident and said no arrest had been made and said the police had stepped up their investigations.
