Armed Robbers Attack Catholic University

MAKE AWAY WITH ALMOST 18 MILLION CEDIS. The Administration Block of the Catholic University temporarily housed at the Pastoral Centre in Sunyani was on early Saturday morning attacked by Armed Robbers.

The three men armed with Pistols and a shot-gun, are reported to have over powered three Security men on guard duty at the entrance of the University and forcibly entered some selected offices.

After locking-up the security men in a lavatory, the robbers broke into and ransacked the offices of the Vice-Chancellor, Father James Michael Schultheis.

They later on attacked the Finance office where they broke into a safe and made away with more than 18 Million cedis cash.

The University was saved from further loss when the robbers fled with part of their booty leaving some behind on hearing a distress call made by SPACE 87.7 FM on their network to the Police about the attack.

They had picked the information on a small radio they had seized from one of the Security men whom they had over-powered.

The Sunyani Police under the Command of Chief Superintendent J.K Zu are investigating certain obvious security lapses detected at the University which could have facilitated the break-in. Four other security guards of a private security firm who were supposed to be on duty on the campus were nowhere to be found at the time of the robbery.
