Areeba Boss ‘Flees’

‘The Chronicle’ has gathered that the Managing Director of Scancom Ghana, Mr. Ahmed Farrouk, yesterday left the country unceremoniously and later sent a text message to his colleagues in Ghana, to announce the Chief Financial Officer, Mr Zeiyad as his successor.

‘The Chronicle’ could not establish whether he had left to his new base in Nigeria to assume his new appointment as MTN Nigeria’s Managing Director or for something else.

As at press time yester night, the paper picked information that lawyers for Investcom, shareholder in Scancom, had not filed their defence in the multi-billion suit against them instituted by Messrs Richmond Aggrey to demand his 20 per cent shares in Scancom.

The paper learnt that lawyers representing Scancom, Benson Nutsukpui, had filed a defence saying that Investcom, which was jointly sued with their client, had not been properly served, and therefore called for the case to be struck out.

Chronicle had it that incidentally, Scancom, which the lawyers represent, had not filed their defense even as at press time.

However, the lawyers do not appear to have a locus or mandate to represent Investcom.

Mr. Benson Nutsukpui one of the lawyers from Kuenyehia & Co, told The Chronicle, that Scancom had a frame of time in which they could file their defense.

Mr. Nutsukpui was not ready to absorb further questions so he directed the paper to contact the court before which the suit was filed.

Mr. Yonny Kulendi of Kulendi &Law, the lawyer representing Aggrey, said both Investcom and Scancom had not filed their defence.

He was quick to add that Scancom had entered an unconditional appearance in court and noted that Investcom, for its part, was given 21 days to file defense because of its location.
