Dr Kofi Apraku, Member of Parliament for Offinso North, has underscored the need for a new and capable leader to transform both the New Patriotic Party(NPP) and the country’s economy.
Dr Apraku was addressing NPP regional and local leaders in Ho at the weekend to seek their support for the party’s ticket in the 2000 presidential elections.
He said, as a presidential aspirant, he would use his youth, deep understanding of the country’s economic problems and strategies to meet the expectations of the citizenry. Dr Apraku said he has a clear vision of how to transform the NPP into a victorious broad-based popular party capable of attracting and accommodating people of rival political persuasions who are disillusioned with their parties and are seeking capable alternatives.
He observed that the time has come for politics of ethnicity to give way to that of nationalism in which one’s capabilities should be the deciding factor for leadership.
