Apprentice mechanic remanded for defilement

Kumasi, May 10, GNA – An 18-year-old apprentice mechanic at the Suame Magazine in Kumasi, Amin Mohammed, has been remanded in prison custody for defiling a 14-year-old junior secondary school girl. The accused pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on May 20. Police Chief Inspector Regina Kesewaah said the victim lives at the Suame Magazine with her parents.

On March 03, Mohammed came on a visit to a lady friend who also lives in the same vicinity with the victim but did not meet her. On his way home, he met the victim with her friends and requested that she accompanied him to pick an item he had left in the lady friend’s house and she obliged.

The accused, on entering the friend’s room with the girl, threw her onto a bed and sexually abused her.

She later fell sick and reported her ordeal to her parents. Mohammed admitted in his statement to the police that he had sex with the victim but said the victim was his girlfriend.
