Tema, Oct. 7, GNA – The Tema Circuit Court ‘B’ has sentenced an apprentice and a mason to two years imprisonment each for stealing PVC pipes valued at four million cedis.
Paul Yaw Bosompem, the apprentice and Emmanuel Amfio, the mason, pleaded guilty to charges of unlawful entry and stealing.
Prosecuting, Police Inspector Ben Agbedanu told the court presided over by Mr Stephen Teye that on September 19 this year, at 1600 hours, a care taker of a house which is under construction at Okpei-Gono on the Spintex road, returned from town and detected that his room had been broken into by thieves.
Inspector Agbedanu said the thieves made away with 50 PVC pipes (large size) and 50 medium and small sizes of the pipes, valued at four million cedis.
The prosecution said the complainant reported the case to the Sakumono Police, and that led to the arrest of the accused persons. The prosecution said during interrogation, the two accused persons admitted the offence, and Amfio led the police to a store in Ashaiman where he sold the pipes to its owner, who was by then on the run, at the cost of 600,000 cedis.
