Appoint a ‘genuine referee’ – PDM appeals to Mahama

Reverend Richmond Owusu-Frimpong, Founder and Leader of the Personality Development Movement (PDM), a political movement, has advised the President to appoint a ‘genuine referee’ at the Electoral Commission.

In a letter to the President and the Council of State captioned: ‘Put Your Interest Aside and Appoint a Genuine Referee,’ and a copy made available to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, Rev Owusu-Frimpong reminded the President that in exercising a very important constitutional mandate in fulfilment of Article 70 Clause Two of the Constitution, he should let nothing but his conscience, guide him in the selection of a new Electoral Commissioner to replace Dr Kwadwo Afari-Gyan who retires presently.

“I am optimistic that the counsel from the Council of State shall be made only in the interest of patriotism, and for the well-being of mother Ghana, to strengthen our young democracy, and also to ensure free, fair and transparent elections.”

“Sir, with all humility and due respect, kindly put your interest aside, only let your conscience guide you, and appoint a genuine referee,” the PDM leader reiterated.
