Appiah given nod by Bawku West Assembly

Zebilla (UE), June 15, GNA – Mr Moses Appiah Abare, the President’s nominee for the post of Chief Executive of Bawku West District was on Tuesday confirmed by the District Assembly.

Out of 41 assembly members present, 28 voted in his favour with 12 against, and one spoilt ballot.

Speaking after the ballot exercise, the Upper East Regional Minister, Mr Boniface Gambila, commended members of the assembly for exercising their democratic right.

He said their decision was a show of respect for the President’s opinion.

He urged the assembly to explore ways to move the District forward, and cautioned assembly members against divisive tendencies. Mr Appiah on his part, pledged to work hard to bring to fruition the government’s development agenda.

He said he would offer good leadership based on consultation, openness and respect for all shades of opinion, and thanked members of the assembly for the confidence reposed in him.

Mr. Roy Ayiriga, Presiding Member of the Assembly, hailed the endorsement of the DCE as a victory for democracy, and commended assembly members for keeping the unity of the House intact. Among those present was Mr Francis Afoko Council of State Member.
