APPEAL FOR SUPPORT AND FUNDS – WOMEN’S WORLD CUP SOCCER– 2003

Fellow citizens, friends and associates of Ghana, as you may be aware, our Black Queens of Ghana qualified along with Nigeria to represent Africa in this year’s Women’s World Cup Soccer tournament scheduled to begin on September 20, 2003 in USA. Our Black Queens have been training very hard in Portland, Oregon for the past six weeks. The Ghanaian Community in Portland has assisted so far in many ways to make their training and stay in Portland worthwhile. We are very grateful to them.

The Black Queens are in a Group with China, Australia, and Russia. This means that our matches will be viewed by a very large audience and, hopefully, generate good publicity for Ghana.

As they prepare vigorously for this difficult task to raise the image of our dear country, they will need your support both spiritually and financially. We understand that the team is in high spirits and battle ready to make us proud. However, this is the time they need your support to strengthen their chances in the tournament. We are therefore appealing to you all to contribute generously in cash or in kind towards the upkeep of the team.

The Embassy of Ghana, through this release, will accept your donation on behalf of the team. The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports in Ghana would like to express their sincere appreciation to all those who respond to this call by donating to the team.

You may call The Embassy of Ghana at 202-686-4520, if you have any questions.

Please make all donations payable to the “Black Queens Fund” and mail to:
