Atibie, April 15, GNA- The Medical Superintendent in charge of the Kwahu Government Hospital, Dr Isaac Richard Osabutey has appealed to the Ghana Health Service and other stakeholders to assist the hospital to replace its outdated equipment.
Laboratory and theatre equipment installed since the hospital was built 50 years ago were still being used, a situation he said, did not augur well for effective and efficient health delivery system for people in the Kwahu South and Kwahu West districts.
Dr Osabutey made the appeal when he received quantity of hospital equipment and drugs worth 250 million cedis, which was presented by one Mr Isaac Mireku, a former Managing Director of the Nkawkaw-based Isaac Pharmacy.
The equipment which included 11 delivery and ward beds, a theatre table, computers, a refrigerator and various laboratory tools were donated by his two children, Francis and Joseph Mireku who are resided in New Jersey, US.
The Medical Superintendent said the hospital had no medical library, a conference room and lacked adequate staff accommodation and spacious out-patient-department. Dr Osabutey thanked Mr Mireku and his children for the kind gesture.
Mr Mireku said the donation was the children’s contribution towards improving the health needs of the people in the area. 15 April 05
