Apostolic Church wins bible competition

The Apostolic Church –Ghana, Alajo branch, emerged winners of the fifth edition of the Youth Link Ghana inter-church children’s ministry Bible competition dubbed: ‘Draw Your Sword’.

The event, which was held at Christ The King Church Hall, Accra, brought together children’s ministries from 20 churches in the keenly contested quiz competition.

St Michael’s Garrison Roman Catholic Church, Accra and The Lords Pentecostal Church, Kwashieman, emerged second and third respectively, scoring 49 and 45 points.

The defending champions, Apostolic Church-Ghana, retained their position as they received a trophy, a certificate of participation and cash for their prizes.

The second and third place winners also received medals, certificates of participation and cash prize of undisclosed amounts.

Rev Fr Samuel Kwaku Korkordi, Parochial Vicar, Christ The King R/C Church, in a message on the importance of the habit of good listening habit stressed on the need for children to be brought up in the fear of the Lord.

He continued that when children are brought up in the fear of the Lord, they are well placed to develop disciplines in hearing, listening and concentration.

The Director of Youth Link Ghana, Kakra Opoku Agyarkwa, said the organisation is set to inspire children between the ages of five to15 years to discover and fulfil their God-given purpose and reach their full potential.

He continued that Youth Link team uses a number of interventions such as quizzes, essay competitions, spelling bees, charity and talent shows to engage children to develop relevant skills for life.
