The Apostolic Church Ghana has held a thanks-giving service in honour of Pastor Patrick Obeng-Tuffour, Secretary of the Asante-Mampong branch of the Ghana National Association of Teachers.
Pastor Obeng-Tuffour, a teacher, was ordained a full pastor after relentless service to the course of God, and having gone through rigorous religious training, coupled with the church’s procedure for determining a divine call to serve the Almighty God.
Pastor Stephen Yaw Darko, Acting Area Pastor for Asante Mampong, enjoined Christians to learn to share with the poor, and help correct the ills in society.
He told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that pastors are seen as agents of change, helping to preach against social vices, indiscipline and immorality, but unfortunately many of them fall foul of the act.
He condemned acts of some pastors he claimed stood too low, to engage in adultery or fornication, bringing the pastoral work into disrepute and public contempt, adding, “some pastors go to the extent of sleeping with people’s wives, or even their church members’ wives.”
Pastor Darko called on church leaders to use their influence to preach against indiscipline, to help transform society, and make it a better place for the next generation.
