Mr David Apasera, PNC-Bolgatanga, on Friday launched another fierce attack on the leadership of Parliament for “discriminating against the People National Convention in crucial parliamentary activities.”
The member, who is on record to have criticised the leadership for ignoring the three-member group during the selection of members to the ECOWAS Community Parliament said, “such tendencies would drive Ghana into a one party or two party state.”
Mr. Apasera was contribution to a motion for the adoption of a report of the Ghana’s Parliamentary delegation to the third session of the ECOWAS Parliament held in Abuja, Nigeria, from June 3-17 2002.
“This house is an embodiment of the desire and wishes of the entire Ghanaian population. It is sad that the committee does not reflect the true political colours of the house.”
Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni, NDC-Kumbungu, said the PNC had brought such a curse on themselves because they chose to be “swallowed by the majority”
“This (minority area) is the natural abode of Mr Apasera and his group. He belongs to the Minority. They are suffering because of the choice that they took if they come home there is no doubt that they will be treated with respect.”
Papa Owusu Ankomah, Majority Leader, said no one under any condition had sought to undermine the PNC.
“We always try to maintain harmony. There is no deliberate policy to sideline any group. No member’s rights would be undermined. We cannot compel anyone to vote on any bill or motion neither can we stop any member from speaking.”
He said the Parliament of Ghana is not based on proportional representation, adding that not every member would have the opportunity on be on every delegation or committee.
