Apam Ward NDC elects new officers

Apam (C/R), Aug 25, GNA – Members of Apam Ward of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have commended Mrs Ama Benyiwa-Doe, former MP for Gomoa West for her defence of the party even outside Parliament. At a meeting at Apam on Monday, members of the party said while some people were afraid to defend the party Mrs Benyiwa-Doe had stood tall.

They expressed their gratitude to her and others such as Mr Ofosu Ampofo, National Organiser, Mr Baba Jamal, Deputy General Secretary and others who had made people to know its part of the story.

Nana Kwame Arhin, Gomoa West Constituency Vice Chairman, pointed out that going into opposition did not mean the demise of the party and urged members not to feel shy identifying with it.

Mr Cosmos Amissah, Assembly Member for the Apam-Nsnekyir Electoral Area, was elected as the new Chairman.

Mr Kofi Afful, a Tutor of the Apam Secondary School was elected as the Vice Chairman with Mr Kobena Yamoah as the Secretary. Other officers were Mr Justice Saakwah, Organiser, Ms Veronica Gyasie, Women’s Organiser, Mr Napoleon Audrews, Youth Organiser and Mr Kojo Attah, Propaganda Secretary while Ms Elizabeth Arkorful was chosen as the Treasurer.

Mr Amissah pledged to provide dedicated leadership and said recapturing the seat from NPP should not be seen as the responsibility of the executives alone.

He said they would need the support of the members and thanked them for the confidence reposed in the new executive.
