Apam Junction/Afransi road awarded on contract

Gomoa Nkran (C/R), Jan 25, GNA – The government has awarded on contract the tarring of the Apam junction/Gomoa Nkran/Gomoa Afransi road and work would begin by the end of January, Mr Francis Kojo Arthur, Member of Parliament for Gomoa West, has said.

He was addressing a durbar of chiefs and people of Gomoa Nkran as part of activities making their Akwambo festival.

The celebration was under the theme “Together we can forge ahead for development”.

The celebration started with a clean up exercise and installation of Nana Benyim Otu IV as Tofohene and Nana Buabeng II as Nyifahene.

Mr Arthur said a dam would be built before the end of the year to address water problem facing the people of Gomoa and Ekumfi.

He appealed to the people to put aside their political, ethnic and religious sentiments and rally behind the government towards the socio-economic development of the area.

Mr Arthur donated 200.00 Ghana cedis as his contribution towards the celebration of the festival as well as 50 bags of cement and 6 packets of asbestos roofing sheets for development projects.

Nana Ayebaw Mbir VI, Odikro of Gomoa Nkran, appealed to his people to bury their differences and unite as one people and to spend their monies on developmental ventures.

He said the Traditional Council had put in place bye-laws that makes it an offence for fathers to refuse to take care of their children.

Mr Thomas Obeng, a former MP for the area who chaired the function, appealed to the youth to undertake communal labour to support development projects.

He donated 20 bags of cement and 100 Ghana cedis as his contribution for the celebration of the festival.

Mr Sam Quam, former MP for Gomoa East, donated 100 Ghana Cedis towards the celebration.
