Apam gets new Tufuhene

A-53-year-old employee of the Ashanti Goldfields at Obuasi, has been installed the Tufuhene (sub-chief) of Apam in the Gomoa West District of the Central Region, under the stool name Nana Kwame Ntoah the Fifth.

Nana Ntoah, known in private life as Mr Opobire, succeeded his late uncle, Nana Kwame Ntoah the Fourth, who died some eight years ago.

Addressing his people at the installation ceremony at Apam, Nana Ntoah pledged to promote education in the town since it is key to development and poverty alleviation.

He called for unity and cooperation among the people, adding that with unity they can collectively development the town.

The District Chief Executive for Gomoa West, Mr Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah, reminded the people that intolerance among them and misunderstanding cannot bring about the needed development for the area.

Nana Ntoah later swore the oath of allegiance to the chief of Apam, Nana Edu Effrim the Tenth.

Nana Effrim urged the new chief to cooperate with his elders and people of the town towards the rapid development of the town.
