Apam citizens in Italy donate sporting equipment to schools

The Italy branch of Apaa Korye Kuw, a society of Apam citizens has presented sporting equipment to the Gomoa District Directorate of the Ghana Education Service for distribution to schools in Apam.

The items, which are worth 1,250 euros, consist of two sets of jerseys, three silver cups, five footballs and a cash of one million cedis. They are to be used to promote sporting activities among schools in town.

Mr Henry Bondzie, president of the association who made the donation urged school to take sports seriously as it ensures good health and provides an opportunity for the youth to earn a decent living.

Mr Samuel Eshun, Assistant Director of Education who received the items on behalf of the District Director, Mr John Quainoo thanked the donors and assured them that the items would be put to a good use.

Mr Eshun appealed to citizens of Gomoa to donate books to facilitate the establishment of libraries in the district.
