Apam (C/R), Mar 3, GNA – The Chief of Apam, Nana Edu Effrim X, has called on children who have dropped-out of school in the area because the inability of their parents to pay their fees to contact him for assistance.
He said the gesture was his contribution to the education of children in the town.
Making the promise at a dedication of choir robes for the Apam Catholic Church at the weekend, he said it was unfortunate that the coastal towns, which were the citadel of education have now been relegated to the back ground and called for a concerted effort to turn the tide.
The Reverend Father Joseph Afful-Rhule, Parish Priest of the Apam St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, condemned people who went to Church because of marriage, obtaining a visa and or other material things. He urged Christians to make seeking the Kingdom of God their priority and advised the choristers to dedicate themselves to God to make them “worthy” users of the robes.
Mr A. B. Simpson, Chairman for the function advised them to cultivate a high sense of discipline for other members of the church to emulate and to respect the authority of the Church.
The robes costing 6 million cedis were bought for the Church by a benevolent member who preferred to remain anonymous. An appeal for funds yielder over 7 million cedis.
