Apam Catholic Hospital wants help

Dr Charles Ntiamoah Takyi, the Medical Superintendent of Apam Catholic Mission Hospital, has appealed to, philanthropists and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to assist the hospital to complete expansion work on its operating theatre.

The Medical Superintendent, who was speaking at a monthly appraisal meeting with senior health workers and administrators of the hospital to discuss issues affecting he hospital on Thursday, said the building had reached lentil level but the lack of funds has brought work to a slow pace.

He said Horison Holland and Wild Geese Foundation all donor agencies in Holland, were supporting the project, which was estimated to cost 214 million cedis and appealed to individuals, non-governmental organisations and government to also assist the hospital.

Dr Takyi said the hospital provided gynaecological services and handled emergency cases and expressed the hope that services would be improved after completion of the project.

He said the hospital would require two anaesthetic machines, four suction machines, two surgical operating tables, two overhead light, boiler sterilizer, two cardiovascular monitors to enable the operating theatre function effectively.

Dr Takyi said the hospital would train five more competent emergency care nurses to strengthen the surgical staff and called on the people of Gomoa both at home and abroad to assist the hospital with funds and hospital equipment.
