AOB District Assembly inaugurated

Breman Asikuma (C/R), Oct. 30, GNA – The Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District Assembly on Monday retained Nana Kweku Eddo Twum, as its presiding member for the next two years.

He polled 37 votes against five by Mr Kwesi Amoako, a contractor. The Electoral Commission (EC) is yet to conduct a run-off in the Ampaham/Bondakrom electoral Area to elect an assembly member because two of the candidate tied during the recent district assembly elections, with each getting 471 votes.

The Minister for Harbours and Railways, Professor Christopher Ameyaw Ekumfi inaugurated the Assembly and read the President’ inaugural speech.

The district Chief Executive, Mr Emmanuel Adjei Domson, asked the new assembly members to work hard to improve the living standard of the people.

He said the staff and heads of department would cooperate with them to fight poverty and promote socio-economic development of the district. Mr Akwasi Asiedu, the district magistrate swore the members into office.
