Anyinamso puts up six-unit classroom block

Anyinamso (Ash), March 10, GNA- Residents of Anyinamso in the Atwima district are putting up a 300-million cedis six-unit classroom block to offer admission to more school going age children who roam about in the area.

Mr Philip Addai, headteacher of the school who announced this at a fund-raising harvest in aid of the project at Anyinamso on Tuesday, explained that extra classrooms have become necessary because the existing structures could not accommodate all the school-going age children in the area.

The community, he said, is also converting an abandoned building in the town at the cost of 50 million cedis to offer decent living accommodation to teachers in the area.

Mr Addai said teachers accommodation was being financed through an annual special levy of 10,000 cedis a male and 5,000 cedis a female for resident citizens and voluntary contributions while the district assembly has donated 20 bags of cement and three packets of roofing sheets for the completion of the project.

He commended Nana Asiama Poku Afrifa 11, Toasehene for offering scholarships to two brilliant but needy children of the school. Mr Baffour Asare-Bediako, an Assistant Director of Education at Atwima district education office was happy that, the enrolment and retention drive launched by the directorate has caught up well in the area.

He commended the teachers for their hard work, dedication and initiative, which have tremendously improved education standards in the area.

Nana Kwadwo Agyem, Anyinamsohene who presided, was grateful to the government for extending electricity to the community and said, it would facilitate effective teaching and learning in the area.
