Anum Anglican Basic School gets ICT Centre

The Anum Anglican Basic School has benefited from a library and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) facility, fully furnished with books and desktop computers, estimated at GH¢ 300, 000.

The project was funded by Connecting Kids Education Foundation, (CKEF), a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), to help upgrade the reading skills of the pupils and broaden their knowledge.

Addressing a gathering at the commissioning of the facility at Anum, the Director of CKEF, Mrs Ellen Blamires said her organization aimed at laying a sound foundation at the primary level where education mattered most in rural communities.

She said the NGO sought to provide an enabling environment for learning, and give children in rural communities a fairer opportunity to compete with their counterparts in the cities.

Mrs Blamires thanked the Parent-Teacher-Association (PTA) and other organizations for their enthusiastic and unwavering support towards the project.

Mr Antwi-Boasiako Sekyere, Eastern Regional Minister, said there was the need for every child of school-going age to be in school.

Mr Thomas Ampem Nyarko, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asuogyaman, urged both teachers and pupils to handle the facility and equipment with care.

Mr Nyarko donated five desktop computers to the school to help support the work of the ICT centre.

Nana Kwasi Anyane, Adontenhene of the Anum Traditional Area, urged parents to instil discipline in their wards.
