Antoa raid: Sub-chief arrested

The Antoa Police have picked up one of the 14 Antoa chiefs summoned by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, a few weeks ago, over the theft of one of the shrine’s deities – puduo – as well as gold ornaments, and some expensive regalia from the dreaded god’s altar in the Ashanti Region.

On November 26, 2015 the Asantehene ordered the chiefs to produce Antoahene, Otipuduosuo Nana Kwame Owusu Agyemang, within the shortest possible time for questioning or risk facing his wrath.

Class FM’s Ashanti Regional correspondent, Frank Jackson, reported on Monday that one of the 14 chiefs, name withheld, has been arrested.

Kenyase District Police Commander DSP Emmanuel Adu-Boahene, confirmed the arrest, but did not give further details.

The ‘strong room’ of the powerful god, Antoa Nyama, in the Kwabre East District of the Ashanti Region was raided by thieves, who stole gold ornaments and other valuables worth thousands of cedis.

The report came to light two weeks ago with the incident sending chills down the spines of inhabitants who wondered whether the name ‘Antoa Nyama’ did not invoke any fear in the thugs.
